BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THREE years after the death of Steven ‘Steam Fish’ Pemberton, a 12-member jury was empanelled today (June 16) to listen to evidence brought against Delvin ‘Jeremiah’ Benjamin charged with his murder.

Benjamin, who has been on remand since his arrest on August 24, 2008, is being represented by Senior Counsels Dr. Henry Browne and Hesketh Benjamin.

It is alleged that the Cabbage Tree Project, Cayon resident had committed the offence in Ottley’s Village on Saturday, August 23, 2008.

According to information previously gathered by this media house, at about 11:25 on that evening, Pemberton was walking through an alley in Ottleys Village when he was attacked by a gunman.

As a result, he sustained multiple gunshot wounds about his body and succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the Joseph N. France (JNF) General Hospital.

The matter was traversed several times at the request of the prosecution because of the absence of their key witnesses who were not in the Federation.

Pemberton’s death marked the 15th of 23 murders in the twin-island Federation for 2008.
