A local taxi-man, popularly known as Michael B, says that there must be a more open avenue of communication between the Police Officers and the local court.

His call for smooth communication comes after an embarrassing situation where he had to pay a fine twice. He was, however, reimbursed.

According to Michael B, a police officer came by his home yesterday and told him that he had a warrant for him for an EC$300 ticket.
The taxi man said he was quite surprised because he remembered he had paid EC$400, by cheque to the Accountant General, for a traffic violation and a parking ticket.
He explained to the officer that he had already paid the fine and he took out the cheque book to show the officer, as evidence to show he had paid the fine.
However, the officer insisted that he had a warrant for the traffic violation and the three hundred must be paid. Hence, Michael B paid him $300.                                                                                   ~~Adz:Right~~
Michael B explained that when the situation was investigated it was found that the fine was indeed paid but the books went to be audited!
“I do not have anything against the Police, but there must be an open line of communication between them and the court to avoid such embarrassing situations,” the taxi man noted.
“Suppose I did not have any cash on me to pay the officer the second time? I have never been to jail and it would have been really damaging to see me being apprehended for such,” he added.
Another young man told of a similar situation where he paid a fine but because of the lack of communication, he was approached by an officer. However, he was not forced to pay twice.
