    ~~Adz:Left~~ A traffic accident occurred at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday 20th June 2007 in the New Guinea area involving motor vehicles P-4681 owned and driven by Lesford Ryan of The Alley, Sandy Point which collided to P-7261 which was parked on the side of the road. The two passengers, a female and a fourteen-year-old male, were taken to the J.N.F General Hospital for treatment as they complained of pain in back of their head and neck. Investigations are ongoing.

     

    At the High Court on Tuesday 19th June 2007, the case of the DPP vs Chaz Pemberton of Boyds Village who was indicted on a charge of “Unlawful Carnal Knowledge” concluded. Pemberton, who had previously pleaded not guilty to the charge, changed his plea and sentencing has been postponed until 21st June 2007.

     

    The following persons were arrested and charged on 19th June 2007;

     

    • Kevaughn Pemberton of Wingfield Road, Old Road was charged with the offence of “Receiving Stolen Goods” committed between March and June 15th 2007 at Sandy Point.

     

    • A fifteen-year-old male of the Basseterre area was charged with the offence of “Larceny from an Unattended Vehicle” committed on 18th June 2007 at …….

     

    • Sean Browne of Cotton Ground, Nevis was charged with the offence of “Inflicting Grievous Bodily Harm” committed on 16th June 2007 at Cotton Ground, Nevis.

     

    • Novel Braithwaite of Hard Times, Nevis was charged with the offence of “Larceny” committed on 12th June 2007. The following persons were convicted at the Sandy Point Magistrate Court on Tuesday 19th June 2007;

     

    • Vere and Neal Harvey of Saddlers Village who were charged with the offence of “Praedial Larceny” committed on 16th June 2006 pleaded guilty to the charge. They were subsequently convicted and cautioned but also ordered to pay compensation in the sum of $400.00 each by 18th August 2007 or in default to serve two (2) months imprisonment with hard labour.

     

    • Karis Douglas of St Pauls Village who was charged with the offence of “Obstruction” committed on 1st June 2007 pleaded guilty to the charge and was subsequently convicted and cautioned.

     

    • Junior Freeman of St. Pauls Village who was charged with the offence of “Battery on a Police Officer”, “Resisting Arrest” and “Escaping Lawful Custody” committed on 1st June 2007 pleaded guilty to all three charges. He was found guilty of all charges and fined $1,000.00 to be paid in (2) months or in default to serve two (2) months imprisonment hard labour in relation to the first charge and was cautioned on the remaining charges..

     

    • Evan Daniel of Parson Village, who was charged with the offences of “Malicious Damage”, “Battery”, and “Indecent Assault” committed on 12th April 2007 at Parsons Village, pleaded guilty to all three (3) charges. He was subsequently found guilty and sentenced to serve three (3) months imprisonment; one (1) imprisonment and caution respectively with sentences to run concurrently. He was also charged with the offence of “Possession of a Controlled Drug” to wit cannabis, committed on 11th May 2007 at Saddlers and was convicted and fined $1,000.00 to be paid in two (2) months or in default to serve two (2) months imprisonment with hard labour. ~~Adz:Right~~

     

    The following persons were convicted at the Charlestown Magistrate Court on Tuesday 19th June 2007;

     

    (1) Alex Claxton of Bath Village was convicted and fined $800.00 payable in four (4) months or in default to serve three (3) months in imprisonment for the offence of “Possession of a Controlled Drug” to wit cannabis committed on 26th May 2007 at Bath Village.

     

    (2) Franchette Davis of Prospect was convicted and fined $5,000.00 payable six (6) months or in default to serve one (1) year imprisonment for the offence of “Cultivation of a Controlled Drug” to wit cannabis committed on 31st May 2007 at Prospect.

     

    (3) Dwayne Matthew of Cades Bay was convicted and fined $1,500.00 payable in three (3) months or in default to serve one (1) month imprisonment for the offence of “Possession of a Control Drug” to wit cannabis, committed on 07th March 2007 at Grove Park.

     

    (4) Kimoy Powell of Bath Village was convicted and fined $1,000.00 payable six (6) months or in default to serve six (6) months imprisonment for the offence of “Possession of a Control Drug” to wit cannabis committed on 19th June 2007 at Main Street Charlestown.

     

    (5) Jermaine Allen of Prospect was convicted and fined $500.00 payable in one (1) month or in default to serve one (1) month imprisonment for the offence of “Obstruction” committed on 31st May 2007 at Prospect.

     

    (6) Novel Brathwaite of Hard Times was convicted and fined $800.00 payable in three (3) months or in default to serve three (3) months imprisonment or the offence of “Larceny” committed on 12th June 2007 at Best Buy.

     

    (7) Leroy Richards of Stoney Grove was convicted and fined $500.00 payable in six (6) months or in default to serve one (1) month imprisonment for the offence of “Driving without a valid driver’s license”; fined $500.00 payable in six (6) months or in default to serve one (1) month imprisonment for the offence of “Driving when not covered by insurance”; fined $250.00 payable in one (1) month in imprisonment for “Driving an Unregistered Vehicle” all committed at Main Street Charlestown on 23rd March 2007. Richards was convicted and fined $250.00 payable in six (6) months or one (1) month imprisonment for “Driving motor cycle when not wearing the appropriate protective head dress” committed on Main Street Charlestown on 18th April 2007.

     

    Richards was also convicted and fined $500.00 payable in six (6) months or in default to serve one (1) month imprisonment for “Driving without Insurance” and fined $250.00 in one (1) month or in default to serve one (1) month imprisonment for “Escaping Lawful Custody”.

     

    These offences were committed at Samuel Hunkins Drive on 13th May 2007. Finally Richards was convicted and fined $1,000.00 payable in three (3) months or in default to serve three (3) months imprisonment for the offence of “Driving without a valid Drivers License”; convicted and fined $800.00 payable in one (1) month or in default to serve one (1) month imprisonment for “Driving without Insurance” committed on 04th June 2007 at Prospect. Drivers are once again warned to comply with the traffic rules and regulations as failure to do so will result in the appropriate action being taken.

     

    On Tuesday 19th June 2007 over a dozen tickets were issued for offences such as “Failing to comply with a traffic sign”, “Driving an unlicensed vehicle” and “Exiting a vehicle while the engine is in motion”.
