The 2006 FirstCaribbean’s Players of the Series awardees

Enshrined in FirstCaribbean International Bank’s organisational values is excellence through raising the standards of performance and delivery, the company said in a press statement.

“The hosting of its recent 2006 Player of the Series Awards ceremony proved that staff have taken this commitment very seriously,” said FirstCaribbean, which has a bank in the Cayman Islands.

The event, in its third year, was the culmination of FirstCaribbean International Bank’s annual “Pro Performer” programme, which encourages the recognition by management of the hard work and exceptional performances given by the Bank’s members of staff.

The ten winners of the prestigious “Player of the Series” awards were drawn from across the region – 3 from The Bahamas, 2 from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, 2 from Barbados, and one each from St Kitts, Belize and Jamaica, and as Executive Chairman for the Bank, Michael Mansoor pointed out, their experience ranged from 2 years with the Bank to 40 years with the Bank.  He explained that the fact that several of the winners were young was “very encouraging” and congratulated them all on being leaders.

Mr Mansoor added that, “there is a need for vision, to go within ourselves to determine what is possible.  It is about doggedness and determination to carry you on to the final destination and it takes a self-disciplined approach to reach the future and rendezvous with destiny” as he congratulated the winners on their achievement.  ~~Adz:Right~~

This was complemented by the sentiments expressed by the keynote speaker, Harold Hoyte, Editor Emeritus of the Nation Publishing Company in Barbados, who advised the winners not to neglect the call of their hearts. He issued a call for the “people in the Caribbean (to) be encouraged, through the examples of the successful ones in our countries such as (those being awarded) to unleash the enormous positive power that we have for the caring transformation of this region that is yours and mine, and rid it of indecent poverty, unnecessary pain, and the sins of neglect.”

Chief Executive Officer of FirstCaribbean, Charles Pink as he acknowledged the achievement of the awardees said, “this is about celebrating success!  2006 was a year of successes – profits were up 24 percent; the Bank also gained 5 Best Bank awards in 2006”.  As he cheered the winners, he added that their hard work meant that the region gained US $1 billion in new homes, new hotels and new cars.

The “Pro Performers” employee recognition programme was created in 2004 to reward professionalism and excellent performance across FirstCaribbean, to reward employees who exemplify the organisation’s values as captured in the acronym cricket, it also acknowledges teamwork, honours staff who consistently go beyond the boundaries of their job requirements and motivates employees to aim higher.
