The following persons were arrested and charged on Monday 25th June 2007;
· Urban Penny of Upper Thibou Avenue was charged with the offence of “Assaulting a Police Officer while in the execution of his duty” committed on 25th June 2007.
· Asim Bradshaw of Sandy Point was charged with the offence of “Larceny” committed on 25th June 2007.
· Tamboui Huggins of Stapleton Village was charged with the offence of “Wounding” committed on 22nd June 2007.
On Monday 25th June 2007 at the Basseterre Magistrate Court, Jermaine Hanley of Pond Road was convicted and sentenced to serve four (4) months imprisonment with hard labour for the offence of “Aggravated Assault”. Hanley was also placed on a bond with the condition, to avoid contact with the complainant in the case keeping at least 100 feet from her for the next two years, or in default to serve two months imprisonment. ~~Adz:Right~~
Also at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Monday 25th June 2007, Juaan Fyfield of Ponds Estate who was charged with the offence of “Wounding with Intent” by shooting, he was committed to stand trial at the September Assizes. Fyfield was charged with the shooting of a twenty-six-year-old male on 1st January 2007 at Carty Alley, Newtown.
On Monday 25th June 2007 at the Sandy Point Magistrate Court, Jermaine Smithen of St. Pauls was convicted of the offences of “Being found in an enclosed premise” and “Malicious Damage” committed on 13th April 2007 at St. Pauls. He was sentenced to serve two (2) months imprisonment which he already served while on remand at Her Majesty Prison since April 2007. He was also ordered to pay compensation in the sum of $700.00 to be paid in two (2) months or in default to serve two (2) months imprisonment respectively.
