ROADTOWN Tortola, BVI, June 21st 2011 - In an exclusive interview with VINO, the former Chief Executive Officer of the TRC, Tomas Lamanauskas stated that various issues such as billing and service quality draw anger from m any of LIME’s subscribers.

This, he explained, could be due to the fact that LIME is the biggest provider with the largest subscribers in the VI.

“So that [the complaints] is not very uncommon,” he pointed out.

However, Mr. Lamanauskas has commended LIME for the swift way it resolves such complaints.

“I am rather satisfied with the way or at least our working relationship with them…and the way they approach the issues that have been brought to their attention by the regulators, from that perspective they are doing their bit to try and keep consumers satisfied.”

The other two service providers in the Virgin Islands are Digicel and CCT Global Communications.

The TRC is a statutory body responsible for regulating the telecommunications sector of the Virgin Islands. The Commission is also responsible for promoting the development of telecommunications throughout the VI.

It is governed by the Telecommunications Act, 2006 which was adopted June 2006 and published October 2006 and advises the Minister of Communications and Works on telecommunications policies internationally and regionally and protects the interests of users of telecommunications services.
