    ROADTOWN Tortola, BVI, June 21st 2011 – The Public Service Week Steering Committee is encouraging members of the public to attend the Government of the Virgin Islands’ Open Houses as part of activities to celebrate Public Service Week 2011.

     

    Open House, which is a competition among all four teams, will be held from today June 21 to June 24 beginning with Team D, Eagles, which consist of the Premier’s Office and the Ministry of Finance. The ministries will be responsible for displaying and discussing their entire portfolio.
     
    Mystery judges will visit the ministries and score the teams on the following criteria: valuable information, including verbal presentations, hand-outs and documentation, presentation, which include energy and professionalism and creative fusion, which includes the overall appearance and cohesiveness of the office.

     

    Team B, Supersonics, which consist of the Governor’s Group and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Labour will be held on Wednesday, June 22; Team A, Panthers which comprise the Ministry of Communications and Works will be held on Thursday, June 23 and Team C, Warriors, which consist of the Ministries of Education and Culture and Health and Social Development will be held on Friday, June 24.

     

    Public Service Week is being observed from June 18-25 under the theme, “A Public Service for Efficiency Excellence and Innovation.” The week is held annually to highlight the contributions of the public service to the Territory’s development and give members of the public an opportunity to gain a better appreciation and understanding of the work of the public service.
