BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A YOUNG FEMALE, Samantha Canwood from the Sandy Point area is finally letting her talent out of the box, as she recently released two hot singles that have been receiving tremendous feedback.
The two self penned songs ‘Come Back To Me’ and ‘Midnight Cry’ were released three weeks ago and have since then been receiving heavy rotation on the local airwaves.
Canwood, who is known from her appearance in many pageants, including the National Queen Pageant in 2004 where she placed Second Runner-up, has a natural soulful voice but until now, it has been kept hidden.
She said it was only after doing back ground vocals for another local artiste, and after being encouraged by other people that she decided to take her talent to the main stream,
She said ‘Come Back To Me’ depicts a real life story of a relationship, where the woman begs her lover to come back after losing him. He also feels the same way and runs back to her with open arms.
Canwood said ‘Midnight Cry’ on the other hand speaks for itself. “It entails what I want him to do after he comes back to me,” she added while smiling.
The 26-year-old said people seem to like both songs and none outweighs the other. She indicated that she recently shot a music video for ‘Midnight Cry’ which will be released next Wednesday.
She is currently working on a debut album that will feature six songs of which she said she has three more to complete.
Canwood said she will be releasing another single titled ‘Yesterday Is Gone’ in the next four weeks.
The rhythms were produced by De Magician of Cayon while the tracks were recorded at Yard Tune Production Studio.
