(Charlestown, Nevis) --- Jael Roberts and Tameka Vyphus were granted the Premier’s Award last Friday during the Ivor Walters Primary School Annual Graduation and Prize Giving Ceremony.
The awards were given to the students for the most outstanding academic achievement in Test of Standards.
The ceremony which began at 4:00 p.m. was held under the theme Success through hard work and perseverance started with a short processional of the graduates and teachers through the school hall.
Brief remarks were given by education official Mr. Lawrence Richards on behalf of the Nevis Education Department and the feature address was given by Mr. Stevenson Manners.
Several students excelled during the Test of Standards and as such received honors. Bernesta Liburd received the Autnell Swanston Award, Lorna Howard Award as well as the Chevy’s Award for best results in Mathematics. Liburd also received the F & F Transportation and Caribe Queen Award for best Science results.

Jael Roberts received an award from the Nevis Teacher’s Union for Best Test of Standards results as well as the Wesleyan Holiness Church Men’s group award for best graduating boy. Roberts also received the SJCIC award along with Tameka Vyphus.
N’kiedra Nisbett received the Eustace Nisbett Jr. Award for Excellence in academics and sports.
Lastly, the Principal Education Officer Certificate of Excellence went to Roberts, Vyphus and Liburd.
The ceremony closed at 6:30 p.m. with a candle light procession after which the teachers, parents and graduates then proceeded to the Old Manor Hotel for their post-graduation dinner.
