St. Kitts Music Festival fever in the air

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WITH only hours left before the staging of the three night much anticipated St. Kitts Music Festival, preparations are in full swing as the excitement heats up. The event will be held at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium from Thursday June 23 to 25, 2011.

     

    For the opening night there will be a fusion of soca, reggae and calypso music by Nu Vybes Band International, Small Axe Band, Ali Campbell’s UB40, Bunny Wailer, Mic Stokes, King Konris, Xman and The Kore featuring Gharlic on the opening night.

     

    On the following night, the venue will explode with reggae and dancehall with performances by seven Jamaican entertainers - Gyptian, Demarco, Konshens, Black Ryno, Maxi Priest, Coco Tea and veteran singer Yellow Man.

     

    The event will then climax on Saturday with ‘Call On Me’ singer Jah Cure, Commodores, Fantasia and East Meets West. 

     

    The stages have already been constructed and the venue is currently being transformed into a top-notch concert arena. 

     

    Traffic arrangements

     

    The Traffic Department has also issued traffic arrangements for the three day period, which will take effect from 6:00 p.m. until a half hour after each show.

     

    According to the communiqué traffic will flow in one direction on the three main streets leading to the venue.

     

    On Victoria Road it will flow from South to North while it flows North to South on Park Range and West to East from Hart Street unto Lozack Road however, parking on Lozack Road will be reserved. 

     

    The communiqué went on to state that parking would only be allowed on one side on Victoria Road and Park Range.  There will be limited parking available at Carnival Village and the tennis court parking lot but only persons with the relevant parking passes will be permitted access. 

     

    Public parking will be available on the Basseterre High School Grounds where lighting and security will be provided. The Traffic Department is asking for full cooperation from everyone.
