The newly elected NRP Led Nevis Island Administration (NIA) begun its week of activities to celebrate its first year in offer under the theme, “To God be the Glory” at the Eden Brown Church of God on Sunday 8th July 2007. Hundreds of people made up of members of the NRP executive, members of the NIA, past parliamentarians, Ministers of Religion, supporters and well wishers of the party took part in a wonderfully organized service which was lively throughout.
The Worship Team comprising of people from across all denominations set the mood for the service with a unique mix of lively worship choruses and old time hymns and had the audience singing at the tops of their voices and dancing as the songs dictated. The service was chaired by the ebullient Reverend James Douglas of the Jessups New Testament Church of God while scripture lessons were read by The Hon Robelto Hector and the Honourable Hensley Daniel. When it was revealed to the audience by Rev Douglas that the Honourable Premier had celebrated his birthday the day before (July7th) the congregation stood and sang Happy Birthday to Premier Parry.

Premier Parry addressed the gathering with the vim and vigour that he is usually known for as he highlighted some of the achievements of his government over the past year.

Pastor Eric Maynard of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Ramsbury gave intercessory prayers for all the members of Cabinet while Rev Canon Dr. Alston B. H. Percival of the St Johns and Gingerland Anglican Churches gave the XXX prayer.

Rev Lindsay Richardson of the Charlestown Methodist Church delivered a passionate message admonishing the members of the NIA to remember that no government can be successful unless they realize the power of God and that everything good comes from God.

The highlight of the service was during the “sharing of the peace” where the members of the NIA went around hugging, kissing, shaking hands and dancing with members of the audience for over ten minutes while the energetic worship team led the congregation into some upbeat and inspiring worship songs. The service was punctuated throughout with solos from Lovelle Thomas, Gayle Lawrence and Datricia Morton which all spoke to the importance of God as the one whom all of our help comes.
