Police Press Release

             The following persons were convicted at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Monday 9th July 2007;

     

    ·         Craig Philbert of Upper Market Street, who was charged with the offences of “Indecent Language” and “Battery on a Police Officer” committed on 21st December 2006 was convicted and cautioned; and fined $2,500.00 to be paid in two (2) months or in default to serve two (2) months imprisonment with hard labour, respectively.
     
    ·         Roy Nias of Challengers Village who was charged with the offences of “Disorderly Conduct by Making Noise” and “Battery on a Police Officer” committed on 1st February 2007 was convicted and fined $500.00 to be paid in (6) weeks or in default to serve one (1) month imprisonment with hard labour on each charge.~~Adz:Right~~
     
    ·         Kalif Flanders of Newton Ground who was charged with the offence of “Being armed with an offensive Weapon” committed on 25th May 2006 was convicted and fined $1,000.00 forthwith or in default to serve one (1) month imprisonment with hard labour. He was also deemed Rouge and a Vagabond by the said Court.
     
    ·         A sixteen-year-old male of King Street, who was charged with the offence of “Carrying Abroad an offensive Weapon” committed on 18th April 2007, was convicted and sentenced to receive five (5) strokes.
     
                The following persons were charged with offences on 10th July 2007;
     
    ·         Delroy Tota of Stapleton Village was charged with the offence of “Throwing Missiles” committed on 17th June 2007 at Stapleton Village.
     
    ·         Tosh Boston of Caunt Street, Newtown was charged with the offense of “Larceny” committed on 25th April 2007 at Newtown.
     
    ·         A sixteen-year-old male of Upper Cayon was charged with the offense of “Possession of a Controlled Drug” to wit cannabis, committed on 9th June 2007.
     
     
     At the High Court on 9th July 2007, Leroy Julius of Godwin Ghaut who was indicted on a charge of “Larceny”     committed  between 22nd and 23rd September 2005, pleaded guilty to the offence of “Receiving stolen goods”. He was subsequently convicted and fined $2,000.00 to be paid in six (6) months or in default to serve eighteen (18) months imprisonment.
