BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE final night of the 15th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival concluded at 3:00 this morning (June 26) as Rastafarian reggae singer Jah Cure brought the curtains down on the event with a number of his hits that left patrons wanting more.

Appearing onstage first for the night was East Meets West and the band gave a lively performance.

Amongst their crowd-pleasing renditions was one titled ‘Sugar City’, which they said was inspired by the island. They then rendered some other songs which were topped off by instrumentals.

The Commodores, who has sold over 60 million records, then took the stage dressed in black with studded sparkling diamonds on their jackets.

Their base was kicking and sounded excellent as they made their entrance onstage dancing in sync to the upbeat sound of the instruments.

The band had the crowd’s undivided attention and received good reception as they sang songs such as ‘Sanctify’, ‘Hot to Trot’, ‘Easy’, ‘Just To Be Close To You’, ‘Night Shift’ and ‘Brick House’.

At one stage during their performance they requested patrons to lift their hands in the air and bounce, to which they willingly adhered.

When they sang ‘Three Times A Lady’ there were much screams and whistling coming from patrons signifying their love for that particular song.

Next in line was the first ever St. Kitts Music Festival Local Promotions DJ Clash winner Chalice Sound, who provided a number of musical selections.

As the night progressed, it soon got to the point that many were awaiting. They were waiting to see Fantasia perform in living colour, and even before she was called to the stage many patrons had rushed to get a close-up view of her.

Fantasia came onstage singing ‘It’s All Good’ and had a short pause, as she asked security to remove the barrier that restricted the crowd because she wanted to interact with her fans.

After a few minutes the barriers were removed and many individuals rushed to the front of the stage to touch her.

The third season American Idol winner’s powerful voice echoed across the venue as she stood onstage barefooted belting hits after hits that included ‘Free Yourself’, ‘Collard Greens and Cornbread’, ‘Bitter Sweet’, ‘Even Angels Learn How To Fly’, ‘Doing Me’ and ‘Hood Boy’.

Her performance went down until 1:05 a.m. and by that time her hair was dripping wet. She then made way for ‘The Cure’ to take the stage at 1:45 a.m. singing ‘Respect’ which was followed by ‘Good Morning Jah Jah’.

Jah Cure’s performance was topped with some more of his famous songs such as ‘Love Means’, ‘Great Man’, ‘Run Come Love Me Tonight’, ‘Prison Walls and ‘Call On Me’.

Many patrons sang along to most of the songs and the night was a ‘lovey dovey’ one as many couples were wrapped up in the comfort of each other’s arms.

Before he ended the night, Jah Cure went out in the crowd and sang shirtless, tempting many females to touch.

The 15th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival ran from Thursday June 24 to 26. Night one saw Nu Vybes International Band, Small Axe Band, Ali Campbell’s UB40, Bunny Wailer, Mic Stokes, King Konris, Xman and The Kore featuring Gharlic..

On the second night Gyptian, Demarco, Konshens, Black Ryno, Maxi Priest, Coco Tea and Yellow Man took the stage.
