Superintendent Stafford Liburd and Acting Commissioner of Police Meredith Charles during the march

Superintendent Stafford Liburd is presently in charge of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force. This was confirmed during an interview with Supt. Liburd himself, by SKNVibes, on July 12th.

This confirmation of who is at the top was a direct way to denounce speculations about confusion as to who is in charge of the “Force”.
Supt. Liburd disclosed that Commissioner Robert Jeffers is hospitalized while Deputy Commissioner Meredith Charles and Assistant Commissioner Austin Weekes are on vacation.
“It is therefore automatic that the next senior officers fill the vacancy while the officers are away,” the Supt. Liburd disclosed.
“The Police Force is driven by rank and how it is structured the next senior person in line carries on the duties left open, because the law speaks,” he added.
Supt. Joseph Richardson is the Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police at present. ~~Adz:Right~~
Supt. Liburd also indicated that whereas some may see it strange that the top three senior posts in the Force are being occupied by acting personnel, such is quite common as the “top Cops” continue to go overseas for meetings and training regularly.
The highest rank in the Police Force is the Commissioner. Next in line is the Deputy Police Commissioner followed by the Assistant Commissioner of Police.
The other ranks, in order of seniority, are Superintendent, Inspector, Station Sergeant ( which they are trying to phase out), Sergeant, Corporal and Constable.
