PM Douglas invites all women to lecture on prevention and treatment of cervical cancer

By: Erasmus Williams, Press Release (CUOPM)

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, June 26th - 2011 (CUOPM) – St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas has issued a personal invitation to all women in the Federation to a lecture on the “Current Prevention and Treatment of Cervical Cancer.”

The lecture takes place this Sunday afternoon at 4 ‘o’ clock at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort Ballroom.

“As one of the few cancers that can be avoided with awareness and screenings, easily curable if caught in the early stages, it is important to spread the message,” said Prime Minister Douglas, who is collaborating with Baptist Health South Florida International Service and Minister of Health, Hon. Marcella Liburd in sponsoring the event.

The lecture will be presented by Dr. Troy Gatcliffe, a gynecologic oncologist at Baptist Health South Florida.

“We’re honored to have a strong ongoing relationship with Baptist Health South Florida International Services that allows us to bring these important messages and seminars to the public,” stated Prime Minister Douglas.

“The information and treatment options that are to be presented will be of great value to the attendees,” said Dr. Douglas, himself a medical practitioner.
