BASSETERRE St. Kitts, June 26th 2011 - Since the last interview with Sonrisa on SKNVIBES in January, the 10 year old has been very busy with her budding music career. Over the past four months, she participated in two recitals for both music and dance and was still able to record three songs. During the Easter Break when other 10-year olds were having fun in the sun, Sonrisa was working in studio recording ‘Let’s Dance’ and ‘Be Somebody’
Sonrisa was also proud to participate as a guest artiste on several school shows and was happy with the experience it brought her. She began working on her first music video in May and also during that time was preparing to represent her school in the Rotary of Liamuiga Talent Search Competition. Sonrisa won the finals for vocals in her age group.
A few days ago, Sonrisa’s first music video dubbed ‘Maybe if I try/Let’s dance’ was released. When asked about her experience in producing a music video, she said, “fun, fun, fun”. The video can be seen on her official facebook page Sonrisa Superstar and also on Youtube at http://youtu.be/5H2Ze0aFQQI, where her posted videos have garnered over 21’000 total upload views. Hopefully, it will soon be seen on local and regional television stations. Sonrisa’s profile, as One to Watch has also been submitted to ZING magazine for publication.
With Tests of Standards completed and internal tests soon over, Sonrisa is looking to the summer with great anticipation. She plans to complete swim school, participate in one of the several performing arts summer camps, do some voice and music training and record three more songs for a seven-song album she intends to release by October this year.
Sonrisa first appeared on the national music scene last November as a Kittitian Superstar junior competitor.
