BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JUST two days after the shooting death of 18-year-old Shaquille Greene of Bird Rock, the Federation has recorded its 16th homicide.

Dead is 21-year-old Alexter Eloni Jeffers of Lower Fiennes Avenue.

Three others, including a female, were also shot.

They are Kenya Francis (31) of Shaw Avenue, Kemo Flemming of Fort Thomas Road and 23-year-old Kaywana Hughes of Upper Shaw Avenue.

SKNVibes learnt that the incident occurred last night (June 27) at approximately 10:00 in the general area of Fiennes Avenue and Central Street in McKnight.

According to informed sources, while Jeffers, Flemming and Francis were among a group of young men outside of Y’s Shop on Fiennes Avenue, a number of men who had exited a jeep on the Bay Road and made their way up Fiennes Avenue stalked and open fire on them.

One man was shot in an alley next to Y’s Shop while two others ran up the Avenue in an attempt to escape from their assailants but were shot when they reached the junction of Fiennes Avenue and Central Street.

This media house was also told that Hughes was returning home after purchasing something from John’s Shop on Fiennes Avenue when she felt a burning sensation on the right side of her lower back.

Sources claimed that on realising she was shot, Hughes ran into a neighbour’s home to avoid further injuries.

All four shooting victims were allegedly transported to the JNF General Hospital by private vehicles but Jeffers died while undergoing emergency medical treatment.

According to a police release, Hughes and Flemming are warded at the hospital in serious but stable condition while Francis’ condition is considered critical.

The release indicated that “police at the Basseterre received a report of a drive-by shooting incident at “Central Fiennes Avenue” and officers from the Special Services Unit and the Criminal Investigation Department responded immediately.

It also indicated that the scene was processed by members of the Crime Scene Department and items of evidential value were collected and taken into police custody for further analysis.

The release further stated that police are pursuing some persons of interest in relation to this matter and investigations are ongoing.

Lanny’s death has taken the number of homicides recorded in the twin-island Federation for the year to 16; 14 on St. Kitts and two on Nevis.
