Relatives and friends of Carl “Poco” Matthew, a 26 year old resident of Newton Ground, are desperately seeking information about his whereabouts, and are trying to dispense fears that he may have been abducted, or in the worst case, murdered.
According to some relatives of the young man, he left home, in Newton Ground just after 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17th, stating that he was going to visit some relatives and friends in Saddler’s Village.
Within an hour (after 9) after “Poco” left home, his sister received a telephone call saying that he had been shot. The origin of the call, or who placed the call is not known.
The call triggered much alarm among friends and family and immediately after, calls were placed to Poco’s cell phone. Initially, the line was answered and heavy breathing was heard but there was no audible response. However, other attempts to reach the young man failed because the phone was either switched off or the area had poor signal.
Suspicions were further aroused when a young man, simply known as Bountin, came by Poco’s house, just after midnight, asking for him, claiming to have some limes for him.

“Where Poco? What happen to Poco?” the young man reportedly asked.
Efforts to reach the Poco during the course of the night proved futile and the search continued in the morning.
Concerns were heightened further when a text message was placed from Poco’s cell phone to his younger brother, Denroy Matthew.
“A me kill Poco. A mit him a walk going St. Paul’s. He a dead meat. All Saddler’s man must dead. Stop call me phone. Dead man can’t talk,” the text message reads.
The same message was forwarded to other relatives and friends, including Poco’s father.
Another text message was placed which alleges that Poco is dead and is “St. Paul’s man do it.”
His girlfriend, Samantha Rochester, and his cousin, Michelle Matthew, say that Poco is not someone who gets into trouble and he is not talkative, but “a humble youth.”
~~Adz:Left~~ “We strongly believe he is alive but wherever he is, he is being tortured,” they both concluded.
Both said they were aware of a situation where some St. Paul’s fellows had threatened Poco, saying that “they must find him dead and he gon be stink by the time they find him”, and it stemmed from an incident involving his brother and some other youths.
Apparently, Poco’s younger brother was involved with a young lady from St. Paul’s, who, it is alleged, was simultaneously involved with another young man from her area (St. Paul’s).
The allegation further state that during a sports event, Poco’s brother terminated the relationship and in so doing took away her cell phone.
The young lady then made a complaint to her other boyfriend, which it is said is the platform for the current spate of events.
Carl “Poco” Matthew is the father of three children. The oldest is 5 years old, another is two and the youngest is a mere 7 month old.
The Police have been alerted about the situation and an investigation has been launched.
