          Co-workers bid farewell to four employees

     

    Four workers from the St. Kitts Marriott Resort will raise their quality work profile even higher and become ambassadors for St. Kitts and Nevis when they travel to Canada and the United States to work in another Marriott establishment and improve on their skill level.

     

    Three of the four- Ms. Lloydleen Stevens, Mr. Nyjah Adams and Mr. Adrian Tobias- will be travelling to the Attmenton River Marriott Cree Resort, in Alberta Canada while the fourth person, Mr. Marlon Tobias will be heading to New Orleans, on an exchange programme.
    All four workers will leave the Federation on Wednesday, July 25th, and each will be operating under two year contracts.

    Ms. Stevens is presently the Chef de Partie at the Bohemia Restaurant. She has been employed at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort since 2003.

    Adams currently works in the Housekeeping Department. He joined the Marriott team in 2005.
    Mr. Adrian Tobias presently is a part of the Stewarding Department and has been a member of the Marriott team since 2005.
    All three workers will travelling to Alberta to work in the respective hotel disciplines.

    On the other hand, Mr. Marlon Tobias, will be part of a special culinary exchange development programme in Thibodaux, New Orleans. The programme is sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture and Chef John Folse, of the Nichols State University Culinary School.

    The objective of the initiative is for chefs from around the globe to share their culinary skills.
    All four workers expressed their excitement about this new venture in their lives and pledged to represent St. Kitts and Nevis to the very best of their abilities.
    Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Hon. Richard Skerritt, said he was quite pleased that these workers were given the opportunity to broaden their career horizon and indicated that such an initiative is a huge step in the development of the tourism product in the Federation.

    He commended the Marriott Resort for taking the lead in the improvement of the hospitality and challenged the Resort to continue to seek ways to improve on the skill level of workers.

    Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Hon. Sam Condor also offered similar sentiments.

    General Manager of the Marriott Resort, Mr. George Landa, was visibly pleased with the window of opportunity for the local workers and wished them the very best in their future endeavours.

    “Our hospitality industry is a people business. It thrives on bringing peoples from different parts of the globe- locally, regionally and internationally- together,” he said.
    The four workers were surrounded by a number of their coworkers who took the opportunity to wish them the best for the future.
