Social Security observes 15th anniversary of self employed coverage

     Basseterre St. Kitts, June 29th, 2011 - On Friday 1st July 2011, the St. Christopher and Nevis Social Security Board will mark the 15th anniversary of Self-Employed Coverage. The Board will engage in a number of activities during the month of July under the theme “Sustaining the Self-Employed through Guaranteed Benefits.”

     

    Minister of Social Security Hon. Sam Condor will make a radio broadcast on Friday 1st July to give special impetus to the observance activities. On that same day the Social Security offices on St. Kitts and Nevis will welcome self-employed persons to participate in a range of activities including access to brochures and booklets, a practical exercise in calculating an Age Pension, health screening checks for diabetes and hypertension and refreshments.

     

    On Sunday 3rd July the Board and Staff along with Self-employed Persons will participate in Corporate Worship services at the Wesleyan Holiness Church at Cayon Street, Basseterre at 10 a.m. and at the Wesleyan Holiness Church in Charlestown, Nevis at 10 a.m.  Panel discussions will be aired on ZIZ Radio Station on Thursday 14th July and on CHOICE FM Radio on 27th July at 8 p.m. Two self-employed Symposia will be held; the first on Wednesday 20th July at the Head Office of Social Security in Basseterre and then on Thursday 21st July at the Social Security Office in Charlestown, Nevis.

     

    Throughout the month of July, Social Security staff will be engaged in on-site visits to organizations and individuals connected to self-employed persons as part of the on-going educational outreach of the Public Relations Department. Additionally the Board encourages all concerned to visit the Social Security website www.socialsecurity.kn and its facebook page Social/Security St Kitts and Nevis to keep pace with all of the relevant information located there.
