Cable & Wireless Press Release

How do you thank your customers for their loyalty and support? Throw them a themed party with delectable culinary selections; punctuate the celebrations with rich cultural displays against a backdrop of gentle lapping waves and clear Caribbean skies and treat them to gifts at random throughout the night. If you think this sounds too good to be true, think again because such was the experience of hundreds of guests who experienced Cable & Wireless’ tropical fever on the weekend.

The quality of the event was predictable from the entranceway. Each guest was personally greeted by the company’s senior executives and then presented with a colourful lei setting the tone for a truly tropical celebration.

And then came the wow factor – a total transformation of the venue with the clever use of an assortment of palms, crotons and other tropical foliage, tiki torches, bamboos and white lights. There were even a couple of lighted fountains adding to the intimate ambience of the Fisherman’s Wharf. A lounge set up to provide relaxation was tucked away in the main building with its huge white canopies providing privacy. Alternating beams of green, yellow and lavender rays helped to convert the lounge into a cozy retreat. Talented entrepreneur, Rosecita Jeffers, of Island by Design, who led the local team responsible for the makeover of the venue, deserves the highest commendations for the expert execution of this top class event.

Void of the ‘stiffness’ of a typical corporate cocktail, the setting spelled fun.
There was a visible hive of social networking with guests mingling and greeting, enjoying what one customer proclaimed as the best corporate event that St. Kitts has ever had. Two visiting Panamanians described the event as the best party they had experienced in the region, and vowed to sell the idea to their Cable & Wireless provider in Panama.

Not meant to be a formal event, the company’s Chief Executive, Patricia Walters took a moment to welcome guests, thanking them for their loyalty and support and for responding so overwhelmingly to her invitation.

This gave way to a captivating folkloric presentation by the masquerades following which the famed drummers of the Okolo Tegremantine Arts Theatre took centre stage. It wasn’t long before the dancers of that group joined the stage injecting a further burst of colour and energy into the evening’s gala.

In a surprise appearance, the executives of Cable & Wireless joined in the entertainment to sing the ‘banana song’, exhibiting their vocal range and humour in full view of the cheering invitees.   Guests were invited to join in the fun onstage participating in a number of games and winning a variety of prizes.

Many walked away with gifts ranging from a Laptop, to a weekend stay at the Marriott, to gift certificates to be redeemed at local businesses. Not brave enough to provide show time entertainment, some guests were still determined not to be left out of the prizes. They took their chances at interpreting some Shakespearian-type clues provided by the executives, as part of a treasure hunt. The lucky hunters shared in the bounty of some 20 phones.

By now the excitement was fever pitch as birthday celebrants were called to the stage and presented with phones in a spirit of generosity. One lucky lady who chose to spend her 10th wedding anniversary at the celebrations would never regret that decision having won the main door prize of a laptop. Earlier in the evening her spouse was also the recipient of a mobile phone having participated in the Musical Talent segment. They both left the party with memorable anniversary gifts.

The festivity barely ended, customers as they left expressed their anticipation for another top class function in the not too distant future.
