             Arthur ‘Boldface’ Guishard

(Charlestown, Nevis) --- On Saturday afternoon Arthur ‘Boldface’ Guishard of Bath Village drowned while taking a Saturday afternoon swim at Gallows Bay in Charlestown.

According to police reports at around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday an emergency call was made to report that Guishard was missing.

“We received call from someone about Guishard being in the water at Gallows Bay and they were looking for him and couldn’t find him. By the time we got there we realized that it was a gentleman by the name of Arthur Guishard better known as ‘Boldface’”, said Sargeant Alonzo Carty of the Charlestown Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

He continued, “However, by the time we got there he appeared to be dead. Doctor Chandy Jacobs who is the district medical officer was summoned to the scene and pronounced the victim dead noting signs of drowning.”

Eyewitness reports indicate that during the beach visit Guishard swam out leaving his friends closer to shore. On his way back to meet his counterparts he is reported to have gone under water and come back up.

After coming up he was seen go down again and then return to the water surface. He went under one last time and after this it is reported that he did not come back up for at least five minutes.

Alerted by the eccentric behavior his counterparts with whom he had travelled called emergency services and also asked for the assistance of a near by fisherman.

After searching the area where he was last seen the fishermen pulled him to shore only to find him unresponsive. After arriving on the scene emergency services pronounced him dead on arrival.    ~~Adz:Right~~

Originally from Newtown, St. Kitts Guishard was residing at Bath Village and was in his early fifties at the time of his death.

Still shocked by his death is his 16-year-old son Arthur Boston who explained to SKNVibes.com that he still can’t believe that his father is gone.

“He was such a loving, helpful kind of guy. He was a caring wonderful man and it’s too bad that he is gone. When I got the news on Saturday I was shocked. Up to now I can’t bring myself to believe that he is gone. It feels like he is still around and he will come home. He always wanted me to play football as he was the best goal keeper in St. Kitts, Nevis and I want to remember him that way”, said Boston.
