BRADES, Montserrat, July 5th, 2011 - Montserrat is expected to host the 42nd annual meeting of the Caribbean Public Service Union Association, CPSA next year July.

President of the Civil Service Association Paul Lewis said during a recent conference, Montserrat will also assume Presidency of the CPSA.”Montserrat is an affiliate of the Caribbean Public Service Union Association which is the body which represents all public sector unions across 15 Caribbean islands. Jamaica now holds the presidency and Montserrat will take over in July [2012].”

Mr. Lewis added that several regional participants will be coming to the island for that meeting. “Jamaica has already over 100 participants registered to take part in Jamaica in July this year and we are hoping that we will be able to also host a similar number next year July.”

The CSA President says the visit will benefit the island economically.”The economy actually would welcome the visit, because you would have persons staying in hotels and caterers, transportation and the world works. It is good for tourism and we are happy to know as a union that we could contribute to the overall development of the economy.

The 41st meeting of the CPSA will be held in Jamaica from July24th-29th this year.
