Defence Force soldier with gun drawn

Defence Force officers believe that their colleague, “Louis” Richards, returned fire in Friday night’s bizarre shooting incident at Old Road, in self defence.

Forty-nine year old Clyde Williams lost his life after he succumbed to a gun shot wound he sustained during the shooting spree, while three others, including the Defence Force officer, had to hospitalized, with gun shot wounds.

The three other men who sustained gun shot wounds are Jevon Woodley, a man affectionately known as “Ado” and “Louis” Richards, an officer of the St. Kitts- Nevis Defence Force.

According to residents, after the Defence Force officer suffered a gun shot wound while at the Lover’s Bar area, he pulled his weapon and shots were fired. One shot caught “Ado” in his arm, while another caught Clyde Williams in his stomach/chest area, which fatally wounded him.

The officer then summoned his colleagues and they walked across Old Road, where they opened fire injuring the other young man, Jevon Woodley.

Residents are of the view that the soldier used unnecessary fire, which resulted in the death of an innocent man, Clyde Williams, but his colleagues disagree.

According to Defence Force officials, while the soldier was at the bar, shots were fired upon him and the other persons at the bar. During that time, the soldier was shot in the bottom.   ~~Adz:Right~~

Officer Richards; realized that his attackers were still advancing and in defence, he drew his weapon and returned fire, unfortunately fatally wounding an innocent man.

Additionally, the several army officials are of the view that soldiers are the target of random attacks, and because of the tainted accounts of several elements in society, they are portrayed as villains, instead of the victim.

It was revealed that some Defence Force officers are concerned for their lives. In dangerous situations, they are forced to be hesitant in their own defence, as they contemplate on the public’s response.

The conflicting reports further pose a challenge for the Police, who have pledged to leave no stone unturned as they investigate the incident.
