Nevis Island Administration
CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (August 09, 2007) -- Acting Premier of Nevis Hon. Robelto Hector, said on Thursday August 07, 2007 that the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) was not caught by surprise by the earlier announcement of Prime Minister the Hon. Denzil Douglas, that the bi-elections in Nevis 9 would be held on August 27, 2007.

“The Nevis Reformation Party-led Administration was not caught by surprise. We are rearing and ready and we are expecting victory at the polls,” he said.

The seat was made vacant with the passing of the late Hon Malcolm Guishard, Leader of the Opposition in the Federal Parliament, who passed away on June 11, 2007.

During the announcement, the Prime minister invited the leaders of the political parties, citizens and all who had interest to take note of the election date and act accordingly.

In Nevis three representatives are elected to the 11 member St. Kitts and Nevis National Assembly. The NRP and the Concerned Citizens Movement at present hold one seat each. Constituents of the St. Johns and St. Pauls Constituency will go to the polls in the bi- election.  ~~Adz:Right~~
