    Father Canon Percival

(Charlestown, Nevis) --- Father Canon Percival parish priest for St. Georges/St. John’s has proclaimed the 16th Annual Caribbean/International Food Fair a success.

The remarks came during a brief interview with SKNVibes.com where the parish priest outlined the objectives of the Caribbean/International Food Fair which was held at Gingerland on Saturday.
“The main reason that we host this event is to raise funds to augment the cost of running the St. George’s and St. John’s Senior Citizens Home. It is also an opportunity for people in the community to socialize. It is really a spin off of Culturama and people look forward to it. The fair began around 9:30 a.m. and ended at around 5:30 p.m. and this year we saw a great crowd”, said Percival.
Percival further explained that the Caribbean/International Food Fair was the brain child of the late Reverend Dean Williams who hosted a similar event in Antigua and it serves to depict exotic food and beverages from various Caribbean islands.  ~~Adz:Right~~
Several islands were showcased including St. Kitts, Nevis, Guyana, Jamaica, Montserrat, Antigua and Barbados. Patrons were able to purchase a wide variety of foods ranging from local salt fish cakes and goat water to Barbadian flying fish and coo coo.
The event finished close to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday night after seeing a vast and avid crowd. In retrospect Father Percival has pegged the event as successful due to the patronage of the geneal public.
“Looking back we are grateful that over the years people have supported the effort understanding the reason behind the whole thing and they have come out to support the effort and socialize. This year we had a vast crowd and we are pleased to put on the event for the general public”, said Father Percival in closing.
