    Nationals of St. Kitts and Nevis signing on to the Special Land Distribution Initiative in which local financial institutions are partnering with the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis, will be granted a six-month grace period during which to arrange manageable, monthly payments, to be paid over several years. or are interested in arranging manageable monthly payments spread over a few years, with a credit union or bank. It is also designed for persons who are ready to build and who have not been able to do so because they have not had any land.

    The Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis, FirstCaribbean International Bank, the Royal Bank of Trinidad and Tobago (RBTT), the Royal Bank of Canada, the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank, Scotia Bank and the St. Kitts Cooperative Credit Union will join the Ministry of Sustainable Development at the launching of the initiative at The Circus in Basseterre on Friday afternoon.

     

    "With the launching of the Special land Initiative, the St. Kitts and Nevis Labour Administration puts you one step closer to home ownership," said a flyer inviting persons to launch, which takes place at 3:00 P.M.Government is calling on persons not only to take advantage of the special prices for land, designed especially for nationals, but also of the special financing plans offered by the financial institutions to build their dream home.The initiative, postponed last week due to the inclement, is designed to empower nationals and involves 5,000 house lots on 618 acres spread over 25 locations.

     

    The Special Land Distribution Areas are Buckley’s, Cayon, Shadwell, Sandy Point, St. Paul’s, Molineux, Taylor’s, Verchilds, Tabernacle, Mansion, Christ Church, Phillips’ Lodge, Keys, Stapleton, Parsons, Harris’ Garvey’s, Stonefort, Old Road, lamberts, Half Way Tree, Newton Ground, Dieppe Bay and Saddlers.Eight (8) areas that will immediately become available are Buckley’s, Molineux, Shadwell, St. Paul’s, Cayon, Sandy Point, Verchilds and Taylor’s.~~Adz:Right~~

    The Special Land Initiative is one of several initiatives that the government has used over the last decade to empower citizens by making them landowners. It is designed for those persons who have been saving to buy land

     

    "An applicant under this special land distribution initiative, who is expected to be 18 years or older, will have his or her application satisfied within one month if the area for which the application is made is one of the 8 active areas cited above. Applications made in respect of the other 17 areas will take a little longer time but no more than one month when those areas become active as well," said Minister Carty. He said that application forms for the special land initiative will become available at the launch which takes place on Friday August 24 at 3:00 pm at The Circus in Basseterre.

     

    The forms will also become available at the Department of Lands and Surveys near the NHC complex on East Park Range in Basseterre and at the Ministry of Sustainable Development, 2nd Floor, Ministry of Finance Building, on Church Street. The Special Land Distribution Initiative is a continuation of the Labour Government’s policy of democracy, fair play, planning and transparency, when it unveils its special land distribution initiative.
