(Basseterre; St. Kitts): Dr. Lionel C. M. Von Frederick ‘Woosey’ Rawlins of St. Kitts and Nevis was sworn in as a member of the Board of Directors at the California State University, Sacramento, yesterday Tuesday, September, 4.
Rawlins who was a saxophonist for the Ellie Matt & The GI’s fame was rewarded for his commendable service to higher-education, international justice and human rights.
Rawlins is the president and founder of The VonFrederick Group, a Sacramento, California, based counter-terrorism and criminological corporation. Rawlins has working experience in Iraq, Afghanistan, Europe, Africa, Asia, Central and South America, the Middle East and the Far East, in the capacity of a counter-terrorist and a criminologist.
Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger presided over the ceremonies. California State University, Sacramento is referred to as the Capitol’s University because of its location in the state’s capitol.
During the ceremony, Dr. Matihilde Mukantabana of Cosumnes River College and President of FORA (Friends-of-Rwanda Association) presented Dr. Rawlins with a ceremonial spear in appreciation for his work with the country and people of Rwanda during and after the 1994 Tutsi genocide.
~~Adz:Right~~Dr. Mukantabana also reminded invitees of the upcoming International Conference on the Rwandan genocide (www.kimenyi.com), November 2-3, 2007 at California State University, Sacramento where Dr. Rawlins will officiate as the Master of Ceremonies, and also speak on Post-Genocide Rwanda’s resurgence from tribal violence, crime, and criminogenics and their effect on economic prosperity and survival.
Governor Schwarzenegger is expected to be the guest-of-honor at the conference.
Dr. Rawlins has appeared on numerous television interviews and talk-radio, discussing homeland security and terrorism issues, as well as criminal profiling and criminal behavior.
Prior to founding the VonFrederick Group, he has been an adjunct professor of Criminal Justice and Criminology, Sociology, Management and Leadership, Ethnic Studies, Physics, Chemistry, and History.
Rawlins has also lectured at Gakushuin University, in Tokyo, Japan. Dr. Rawlins is an Ambassador for the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce.
FYI: A criminologist is a person who analyzes crime and criminal behaviors and attempts to provide explanations as to who commits crime and why they do it. A criminologist analyzes a criminal’s behavior and the methods he or she employs. Criminologists may work independently, or they may be employed by public law enforcement agencies, private universities or security companies.
