The Outrage

By: Ursula Huggins-Whitney

How can a small country, proportedly guided by the rule of law, has such an election as ours on 11 July marred by misrepresentation, poll rigging and scandal.

Many people have been disenfranchised, many of them Nevisians born on the island holding voter registration cards. These are people who live and work on Nevis.I do not understand how these people can arbitrarily be denied their right to vote.

My understanding is that the NRP government in conjunction with the Labor Party is to blame because of their greed and obsession to remain in power.

As in the previous federal and local elections, there has been tampering with registration lists.
The appointment of NRP activists and supporters to Board of Elections has resulted in a corrupt process orchestrated by the NRP, which I was proud to support under Dr. Simeon Daniel.

Why is it that Cox, where Hensley Daniel was born always has the latest results, and the voter tally does not match any numbers rational people come up with? This is the perennial “missing box” of votes. It is particularly questionable when the tally difference between candidates is less than 20 votes.

I hope with all my heart and pray that there will be a just and transparent result for Mr. Brantley.
