BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A 58-year-old man escaped being charged this afternoon (July 14) after he was caught stealing a quantity of food items from the Bay Road, Basseterre Branch of C&C Super Foods.
Information reaching this publication indicates that Amos McIntosh of Basseterre was apprehended by the police at the Ferry Terminal at approximately 12:40 p.m. with two pounds of rice, two pounds of chicken wings, one small box of Maggi bouillon cubes and one pound of Lentils allegedly stolen from the supermarket.
SKNVibes learnt that McIntosh had entered the supermarket, picked up the items and stealthily left without paying for them.
The entity’s security guard had however observed his movements and notified the police at the Basseterre Police Station.
On arrival at the supermarket, officers were directed to a booth at the Ferry Terminal, behind which they found McIntosh cleaning the chicken wings and a pot with water waiting on the items to be placed on an already lit fire.
He was apprehended and taken to the supermarket where investigations revealed that he had indeed stolen the items.
McIntosh was however spared being charged because a sympathetic citizen, whose name was given as Ricky Bassue, paid for the items.
