LIME Turns Up the Volume on the St. Kitts Music Festival

By: Lime, Press Release

Basseterre, St. Kitts: July 14th, 2011 - Music Festival 2011 in St. Kitts & Nevis is now mere memories and very pleasant ones for hundreds of music lovers.  Many of them travelled to St. Kitts & Nevis from across the region and across the world to witness this eclectic mix of music that is only experienced at this decade and a half old festival.

But while the patrons immersed in the total experience of fun and frolic not much thought is ever given to the behind the scenes work of the people in Telecommunications that contribute to making this festival the beaming success it is.

Working with the St. Kitts Music Festival from its inception, the telecommunication services of LIME hitherto Cable & Wireless was always relied upon to “make the production happen” as described by one of its officials.Seen as a silent contributor to the success of this mega event, telecommunications services are key to the eventual outcome.

Reliable data communications services are required for the media room to assist with the transmission of the daily media conferences; dozens of volunteers communicate through a network of phones connected via a calling circle that make communication between them free, and this year Wifi sites were set up at the park and around the city to enhance the experience of internet and other data users.

Referring to these services as vital to the efficient running of the three-day event, Music Festival Chairman Faron Lawrence said, “This festival could not be possible without the phenomenal assistance of the products and services of telecommunications provider, LIME.”  He explained that the artistes themselves make a lot of demands for key telecommunications services and that thankfully LIME has always delivered.

“I am not even talking about the cash sponsorship provided by LIME, which in and of itself is significant.  But when I think of what is required to pull this off in terms of our telecommunications requirement I want to say that your company has been fantastic over the years in this regard,” he added.

He was being interviewed on LIME’s weekly television programme, Telecomms Talk hosted by Corporate Communications Manager, Laverne Caines, when he made the declaration. “It would have been a strain on our budget to be able to pay for telecommunications services,” he concluded frankly.

Reviewing the early years of sponsorship when the dollar value was a mere fraction of what it is today, the Corporate Communications Manager acknowledged, “our overall sponsorship has grown phenomenally over those years.” She said Music Festival as a product has evolved in leaps and bounds and so too has the company’s confidence to provide greater input to its success.

Sponsorship of the event does not begin nor end with a cheque presentation and the activation of telecommunications services.  LIME has now treated its sponsorship as an all-inclusive arrangement: lamp pole banners are mounted in the city centre months ahead of the festival to drum up awareness and excitement; mock jumbies sporting LIME-branded costumes mingle in the crowd over the course of the three nights injecting some cultural flavour into the affair; and this year, as a new addition, LIME girls were seen weaving themselves through the patrons distributing party-like paraphernalia.

“We are proud of our association with this first-class entertainment event in St. Kitts & Nevis, and will associate our name with it for many years to come,” said General Manager, David Lake who was still basking in the success of the fifteenth edition.

Congratulations are extended to the members of the Music Festival Committee for delivering another fantastic edition of its unique brand of Music Festival. Let the music play on!
