    Mr. Terrance Kieron Martin Jr.
    2004 Liamuiga Youth Legacy Award Winner, Mr. Terrance Kieron Martin Jr. has graduated Summa Cum Laude (1st class honors) with a Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Economics from Midwestern State University (MSU) in Wichita Falls, Texas. During his illustrious academic career at MSU, Terrance received several academic and non-academic awards such as the CSO Impact Award and the Economics Student of the Year Award. 

    Moreover, he was inducted into numerous National and International Honors Societies including, Alpha Lambda Delta, Phi Eta Sigma, Mortar Board, Delta Mu Delta, Alpha Chi, National Dean’s List, and Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Additionally, Terrance was named to the President’s Honor Roll for the entire academic year of 06-07, and also to the Provost’s Honor Roll for the academic year of 05-06.
     
    In 2006 he was named a finalist for Outstanding Sophomore Man Award, and he was also nominated for the prestigious Hardin Academic Award in 2007. During his tenure he received several academic and non-academic scholarships including the Raborn Economics Scholarship and the Good Neighbor Scholarship. 

     

     

     

     

     

    Although Terrance majored in Economics he tailored his courses to focus on the area of International Economics, and as such he presented several papers and research on the Caribbean Single Market and Economy. 

    Terrance also did research on the Caribbean Tourism industry through which he was able to develop a tourism indicator model with use of Econometric Analysis. One year after his enrollment in MSU, Terrance was named an official MSU Student Ambassador, and he also served as the 1st Vice President and President of the Caribbean Student’s Organization in which he played an integral role in the organization planning and operations. Further, he was a very active member of several on and off campus organization, which included the University Planning Board, the Financial Management Association, the Boys and Girls Club of America. 

     

     

    ~~Adz:Right~~Mr. Martin’s earlier academic achievement included his successful completion of CAPE at the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College.  Furthermore, Terrance convincingly obtained nine general proficiency subjects, attaining four distinctions while he was a student at the Basseterre Senior High School. He obtained his primary education at Newtown Primary School, which is now known as the Tucker Clarke Primary. Before leaving St. Kitts and Nevis to further his education, Terrance worked for two years at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort. When he left the St. Kitts Marriott Resort, he held the position of Purchasing Supervisor, and the chairmanship of the Associate Advisory committee to the then General Manager, Mr. John Toti.

     

     

     

    Terrance Kieron Martin Jr. is the son of Terrance and Brenda Martin of Lime Kiln Development. He is the grandson of the late Fredericka Webbe of Newtown. Terrance said, “I credit my success to the support that I received from my family and friends especially my Aunt Keprene Webbe-Adams of Ponds Pasture and my girlfriend Yollanda Hilliman of Blowing Point, Anguilla.  I will also like to dedicate my Degree to my late grandmother Fredericka Webbe.” Terrance also thanks Dr. Randy Glean, founder of the Caribbean Student’s Organization and Recruitment program at Midwestern State University for the opportunities that were afforded him through the program. He extends sincerest thanks to Ms. Mutryce A. Williams, founder of LYLAA and MSU alumni for her invaluable assistance, encouragement and support throughout his tenure at MSU.

     

     

     

    Ms. Mutryce A. Williams, founder of LYLAA said, “Terrance is someone in whom I have great confidence and for whom I have an immense amount of admiration. He is an exemplar, scholar, leader and a servant. Terrance graduated with top honours in record time of two years while holding key leadership roles on the MSU campus as well as volunteering. This is indeed commendable.  It is an honour for me to know him. He has done the region, the nation, his family and friends, as well as LYLAA proud.”  

    Terrance K Martin Jr. is currently enrolled in the Master of Business Administration program at the Dillard’s College of Business Administration at Midwestern State University. He is employed as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Departments of Economics and Finance and Marketing. The Liamuiga Youth Legacy Awards Association congratulates Terrance on his accomplishments and sends him best wishes in his current and future endeavours.
