Leader of the People's Action Movement, Mr. Lindsay Grant

(St. Kitts) - Peoples Action Movement leader, Lindsay Grant, has expressed concerns about the role of the St. Kitts Nevis Defense Force and the Government in the Old Road shooting incident which he says has left the community uneasy. 

Mr. Grant said "Well we have always been concerned, that is the People’s Action Movement, with the operation of the army. We have made that public time and time again. This situation that has arisen in Old Road, we are very concerned because we believe that it requires the……government taking a very seriously look at the problem……the community is very upset. And the community wants to be ensured that justice is done in the matter." 

~~Adz:Right~~"The problem with the handling of the matter by the government is causing the residents some degree of concern and I would hope that the matter is dealt with on a professional level and that the government keeps their hand out of the matter, and let the police do their work." Mr. Grant added. 

The PAM Leader said that if the police is allowed to do their work freely and without interference by any institution or persons within the government, at the end of the day, justice will be served. Mr. Grant said "I have spoken to the family on a number of occasions, just sharing my concerns with them and asking them to be patient and to understand that these matters take time, but that they need justice and whatever justice is needed out at the end of the day we hope that it is something that is satisfactory to the community at large." 

Defence Force soldier Lewis Richards was arrested and charged on August 29th for the shooting death of 49 year old Clive Williams. Richards aged 30 was also charged with the offence of Wounding with Intent for the shooting committed against an Old Road resident on the same night.
