Free School Lunches for the Children of St.James Parish
~~Adz:Left~~ (Charlestown, Nevis) -'The new "school–feeding" program which is presently underway, benefits over 150 student. For the month of September, children attending the Violet O. Jeffers Nicholls (VOJN) and the St.James Primary Schools will be receiving lunch complimentary of the Nevis Island Administration.
Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry and his Cabinet, has received a full report from Mrs. Lornette Queeley Connor, an education officer charged to review and organise the school meal program in St. James Parish.
In discussing the school Meal program, Mrs. Lornette Queeley Connor stated, “The program is being heavily subsidized by the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) from the food to the utensils. I am truly happy that the children of St. James Parish can receive a balanced diet of meats, fruits, vegetables and starches. This will help parents feel comfortable that their children will have a nutritious lunch everyday.”
From the month of October, a small contribution towards the school meal program will be asked from the parents/guardians. In some instances eligible students will receive free lunches or discount lunches for families, where more than one child attends the school.
