SKNDF RESPONSE TO PRESS STATEMENTS BY MR LINDSAY GRANT
~~Adz:Right~~ The High Command of the St. Kitts Nevis Defence Force notes with concern certain statements in the local media levied against the Force by Mr. Lindsay P Grant, Leader of the Peoples Action Movement (PAM).
The SKNDF has observed that since the tragic occurrence in Old Road which resulted in the death of a member of that community, Mr. Grant’s attack on the Force has increased In his most recent statement to the media Mr. Grant stated, “Well, we have always been concerned, that is the People’s Action Movement, with the operation of the army. We have made that public time and time again….” We view this statement as an attempt to besmirch the good reputation of the Force and to bring into disrepute its professionalism.
The SKNDF condemns this shameful attempt by Mr. Grant to use a very unfortunate incident to gain political traction. The Force calls on him to stop dealing in generalities and to articulate the specific concern his party’s. The SKNDF wishes the general public to know, that the Force does not conduct law enforce operations on its own, but always act in support of the Royal St. Christopher Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF).
The SKNDF, through this medium extends its condolences to the relatives of the late Mr. Clyde Williams and also empathizes with the family of PTE Richards. The Force reiterates its commitment to seeing that justice is done and once again pledges full cooperation to the RSCNPF in its investigation of the tragic incident.
Aid to the Civil Power is the present priority of the Force. In this regard, the Force High Command hereby assures the general public that it will not be deterred from assisting the RSCNPF in ensuring that peace, law and order is maintained in the Federation.
