A symbolic recognition of the commencement the Tourism Season 2007/08 is the coordination of Tourism Awareness Month (formerly week). The month long recognition aims to direct the nation’s attention to various elements of the Industry through a series of activities. In summary these areas speak to training & human resource development; the youth; small and medium business development in tourism; the fashion industry; culinary arts; music & entertainment; sports tourism; community tourism; destination marketing and the recognition of excellence in the local Industry, amongst others.

 

“The public is encouraged to participate as much as they can in the month long Tourism Awareness drive, taking advantage of the opportunities for training and other areas of interest.  We especially are looking forward to seeing the public coming out to support the participants of the Tourism Torch Run as we launch the Awareness Month on World Tourism Day (September 27th)”, said Corporate Communications Manager, Unoma Allen.

 

Tourism Awareness Month 2007 will run from September 27th to October 30th, 2007 and is organized by a collection of public and private sector representatives.
