Police Press Release

    The following persons were charged with various offences between 21st and 25th September 2007

     

     

     

    ~~Adz:Left~~• Jason Eddy of The Alley, Sandy Point was charged with the offence of “Dangerous Driving” committed on 15th September 2007 at Frigate Bay.
     
    • Clyde Bailey of Pitcairn Street, Newtown was charged with the offence of “Malicious Damage” committed on 22nd September 2007.
     
    • Denzil “Para” Williams of Fort Thomas Road was charged with the offence of “Causing Death by Dangerous Driving” committed on 18th August 2007 at Verchilds Village. He was later bailed at the Basseterre Magistrate Court in the sum of $200,000.00 to appear at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on 9th October 2007. The court ordered Williams to surrender all travel documents, imposed a 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. curfew and also ordered him to report to the Basseterre Police Station and inform the police of any changes in his address immediately.

    The following persons were convicted at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Monday 24th September 2007;

     

    • Clinton Matthew of East Street, Newtown, was convicted of the offence of “Obstruction” committed on 1st April 2006. He was fined $2,500.00 to be paid in two (2) months or in default to serve two (2) months imprisonment with hard labour.

     

    • Vernon Simon of Newtown was convicted of the offence of “Possession of a Controlled Drug” to wit cannabis committed on 5th September 2007. He was fined $500.00 to be paid in two (2) months or in default to serve one (1) month imprisonment with hard labour.
     
    • Jemadari Hodge of Upper Market Street was convicted of the offence of “Larceny” committed on 10th March 2007. He was fined $4,000.00 to be paid in three (3) months or in default to serve six (6) months imprisonment with hard labour.
     
    • Luis Andre Mills of Tabernacle was convicted of the offence of “Carrying Abroad an Offensive Weapon” committed on 1st January 2007. He was fined $600.00 to be paid in three (3) weeks or in default to serve fourteen (14) days imprisonment with hard labour.
     
    At the High Court on Tuesday 25th September 2007, Leon Samuel, Anthony Phillip and Brian Prentice pleaded guilty to the indictments brought against them. Samuel had been charged with three counts of House Breaking and Larceny and Receiving”. He was also charged with Phillip on a charge of “Building Breaking and Larceny” while Prentice was charged with three counts of “False Pretenses”. All three men were remanded to H.M. Prison to await sentencing on the 1st and 2nd October 2007.
