BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE trial of Jason Liddie, who was charged with burglary, receiving and larceny, began at the Basseterre High Court on Wednesday (July 20) and will continue on Monday (July 25).

According to the prosecution, on September 19, 2010, Liddie burglarised the Palmetto Point, Trinity home of Anthony Comry and stole a Toshiba Satellite, one British passport, toothbrush and toothpaste, magic jack and pen drives, all to the total value of EC$7,222.65.

He was also charged with receiving the items and committing the act of larceny from a dwelling house.

The prosecution which is being led by Crown Counsel rested its case after four witnesses had testified.

Denroy Pope, a police officer, told the court that the accused was seen on a verandah in the area with a black and brown bag in his hand and a blue bag on his back.

Pope said that a struggle ensued in his attempt to apprehend Liddie, during which the accused tried to take his service pistol and it went off.

After the prosecution rested their case, Liddie took the stand and will continue his testimony on Monday.

Liddie’s bail was revoked by His Lordship Justice Thomas and he was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison because it was the second time that he had turned up late for his trial.

Meanwhile, the rape case of Lincoln Storrod was deemed a mistrial and was traversed to the September 2011 Criminal Assizes.
