Frustrated gunman shoots up house in hunt for Newtown man

By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE life of a young man may have been saved after he refused to open the door to the house he shares with his girlfriend and child following repeated pounding upon it by an unknown gunman or gunmen.

Information reaching this publication states that shortly after 3:00 yesterday morning (July 23), while 25-year-old Nathaniel Archibald, his girlfriend and their child were sleeping in their Douglas Street, Newtown home, they heard someone repeatedly rapping on the door.

Reports indicate that the rapping intensified but the occupants refused to open the door.

Unable to get into the house, the seemingly frustrated gunman, or gunmen, vented his rage on the building by firing a number of bullets into it. However, no one was injured even though some of the bullets had entered the interior of the building.

According to Head of the Criminal Investigation Department, Inspector Franklyn Belgrove, police were notified of the incident, but on arrival the perpetrator(s) had already fled the scene.

He however noted that items of evidential value were collected and taken into custody for further analysis.

Inspector Belgrove also noted that patrols in the Newtown and other areas classified as “hot spots” have intensified and investigations into this particular incident are ongoing.
