BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AFTER a night of close competition, calypsonians Dis N Dat along with Hollywood scored 249 points out of a possible 300, taking the lead in the Nevis Culturama TDC Sponsored Senior semi-finals. They will now make their way through to the finals with five others.
The final show is scheduled to be held on Friday, July 29 at the Cultural Complex at 8:00 p.m. when the seven contenders will go up against King Astro.
The finalists are Baker who sang ‘Nothing Wrong With Dat’ scoring 241 points, Pupa Wheeler with ‘Granny’ scoring 218, Nutsy with ‘Mother Earth’ scoring 222, I-Sour Sop with ‘Emancipation Celebration’ scoring 234, Alamoulou with ‘Ring Garden’ who scored 216 points - along with Hollywood who sang ‘Hungry’ and the veteran Dis & Dat who performed ‘Women’.
According to Chairman Chesley Davis, despite the rain the evening went down well, even though the crowd was small.
He said each calypsonian sang one song due to some setbacks, and not having enough time to prepare, but on the final night they would perform two songs.
A total of eleven calypsonians sang on the semi-final night but at the end of the event Lussman, Watusi, Daddy Nature and Sweetest were eliminated.
