    Premier Parry leads delegation to Florida Caribbean Cruise Conference & Trade Show
    in Mexico

     

    Premier of Nevis, Hon. Joseph Parry
    (Charlestown, Nevis-) Premier of Nevis, Hon. Joseph Parry will be leading the Nevis delegation to the fourteenth annual Florida Caribbean Conference Cruise Association (FCCA) in Cozumel, Mexico on Saturday, October 6th, 2007.

     

    “The conference is scheduled to be held from October 8-12, 2007 and is a significant step forward for the Ministry of Tourism. This move will help to promote a better understanding of the cruise industry for the delegates, while the Cruise Executives will be able to develop a first-rate relationship with Nevis as a destination partner. I believe that the one-on-one meetings with the top Cruise Executives of the industry will be an excellent opportunity for our island, to be recognised as a viable destination for cruise ship passengers,” says Premier Parry. 
     
    The delegation led by Premier Parry, includes Tourism Advisor Mr. Alistair Yearwood, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism Mr. Tyrone O’Flaherty and Tourism Officer, Miss Nicole Liburd.
     
    During his visit to Mexico, Mr. Parry is also expected to attend several crucial policy-making conferences, with other Caribbean Tourism Ministers and Cruise Industry Executives.

    ~~Adz:Right~~ In an information booklet on the subject of the 2007 conference, FCCA President, Michele Paige highlights the importance of the event - “The conference’s business sessions, social functions and trade show will again provide a superb forum to cruise industry partners for the exchange of information, sharing of ideas and cultivation of valuable business relationships.” 
     
    Existing FCCA member Lines are Carnival Cruise Lines, Celebrity Cruises, Costa Cruise Lines, Cunard Line, Disney Cruise Line, Holland America Line, MSC Cruises USA Inc, Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Regent Seven Sea Cruises, Royal Caribbean International and Windstar Cruises.
     
    Each year, the FCCA invites students in FCCA partner destinations in the Caribbean to participate in the FCCA Foundation Children’s Essay Contest. The contest endeavours to promote Cruise Tourism awareness among the young people of the Caribbean. The topic of this year’s Essay Competition was “If I were a Cruise passenger, what would I like to see or do in my country?”                            
     
    Eleven year old, Miss Christina Ram was declared the winner in the Junior Division of the FCCA Essay Competition. Miss Ram will be attending the conference along with her chaperone. While in attendance, Miss Ram will read her winning essay and also receive the coveted prize check of US$3000.
     
    Christina is a student at the Charlestown Primary School. The school of the winner will also receive a check of US$3000.  Premier Parry will accept the check on behalf of the school.
