23 year-old Simone Sergeant originally of Ramsbury village, Nevis
(St. Augustine, Trinidad) --- Twenty three year old Simone Sergeant is making her mark  in Trinidad at the University of West Indies (UWI) in her pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in the field of Management.

The Ramsbury native began her academic career at the Charlestown Secondary School in 1996 and then went on to attend the Charlestown Sixth Form College graduating in 2003. She entered the world of work in 2003 and was employed at the Bank of Nevis from 2003 until 2005.

Sergeant then made a decision to further her education and continued her studies at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine majoring in Management. Currently, Sergeant is in her final year of study and resides on Trinity Hall, an all female dormitory on campus.

With respect to her studies Sergeant expressed her belief that management studies are integral in the pursuit of a managerial position.

“I think that management is essential whether you want to run your own business or you want to be eligible for a management position in a government/ private business.

After I finish at UWI I would like to take up a position such a Human Resource Manager or Securities Analyst as I feel that it would enhance me as a person and it will allow me to make a major contribution to my country through my company”, said Sergeant.

~~Adz:Right~~ She continued, “My experience at UWI has been very good. However, the transition from being a foreign country has made it very difficult for me in being away from home.

My lecturers have been interesting and I must say that they are interested in the student’s well being. I find that every year the coursework gets harder and harder however I have had to alter my study habits by getting up earlier to study and engaging in study groups and attending as many tutorials as possible.”

In ending the interview Sergeant persuaded other young people to pursue tertiary education to aid in their self development and enhancement.

“I would have to encourage other young people out there to attend a tertiary institution because it will aid in their self development and they will be able to get higher paid job, increase their self esteem and they will have more career choices available to them”, she said.
