Leader of the People's Action Movement, Hon. Lindsay Grant
The People’s Action Movement hosted a gala luncheon on Sunday 7th October at the Party Headquarters to celebrate the 7th anniversary of the Leadership of Mr. Lindsay Grant.

The event was a family affair with fun filled events for adults and children alike. The sumptuous lunch was accompanied by musical interludes on the steel pan by Mr. Melvin Hewlett and by local calypso icon King Socrates.

The large crowd was entertained by erstwhile comedian Dr. Bernel Nisbett who had everyone in stitches with his usually witty anecdotes about his animal patients.

The highlight of the event though was the inspiring speech given by the featured speaker, the first Prime Minister, Dr. the Rt. Hon. Sir Kennedy Simmonds.

The love that is felt for the former leader was palpable in the room and he enjoyed several standing ovations.

Sir Kennedy hit all the right notes as he encouraged the several hundred persons in attendance in preparation for the upcoming General Election that is widely believed to be much sooner that the constitutionally due in 2009 with the rallying cry “we did it already and we can do it again!”

The large crowd was also treated to a rousing motivational speech by the Party Leader, Mr. Lindsay Grant who expressed his gratitude to supporters for their unfailing confidence in and support of him.

The day’s event concluded with a Chinese auction and fashion show and it is clear that the Party is in very high spirits especially coming off a successful march and Independence Ball.
Observers of the local political scene are keenly taking note of these developments as all the signs indicate that the next General Election will provide a majour upset.
