(St. Augustine, Trinidad) --- Heavy rainfall caused by an upper level trough resulted in flash flooding in several parts of the eastern corridor of Trinidad yesterday.

Among the areas hardest hit were Curepe, Chaguanas, St. Augustine, Tunapuna, Macoya and Arouca. In Central Trinidad flash flooding left several homes underwater and also left scores of school children stranded on the streets.

Reports from the Piarco Met Office indicated that the heavy rainfall was caused by excess moisture from the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and also warned that further flash flooding was likely as the weather systems continue to cause rain showers over the next couple days.
