    Basseterre; St. Kitts:
An AK-47 assault rifle, one of the most powerful rifles in use, has been confiscated by the Police, after a combined search by the Police and the Defence Force, on Thursday, 11th October.

In addition to the discovery of the weapon, an incredible 75 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition were also discovered in the same area.

According to a Police Press Release, the assault rifle and ammunition were discovered in an unoccupied building in Pond’s Extension.

At the time, the Police were carrying out search exercises in the area for guns, ammunition and drugs.

As a result of the discovery, the Police have held several persons for questioning.

The combined Police and Defence Force efforts have led to the confiscation of three firearms this week and an amazing twelve for the year, so far.

During the same search exercises, a pair of camouflage outfits, which it is suspected were stolen earlier this year, and a black hooded mask were also discovered in one of the houses.
