Bandits break into KFC

Robs fast food outlet of undisclosed cash

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – BANDITS this morning (Aug. 1) broke into KFC and cart off an undisclosed sum of money, but not before causing damage to a number of electrical facilities in and around the fast food outlet.

Speaking with SKNVibes, General Manager of KFC, Colin Richards said the establishment was broken into at about 4:00 a.m. and the bandits had gained entrance through the back door.

“This morning when I arrived, I observed that the back door was broken and also the metal grill at that door. This had to be the work of professionals, because they had disabled the two security cameras attached to the building directly behind us that focus on the entire rear, including the door. The bandits also cut the wires that provide electricity to the building,” Richards said.

He also said that on entering the building, the bandits broke into a safe from which they removed an undisclosed sum of cash and disabled all the security cameras.

Richards was however unable to say if any item other than the money was stolen from the premises, as he was at the time making checks to ascertain if he had suffered additional losses.

While in the building, SKNVibes had observed two electricians rectifying the damage to the security cameras and the electrical wiring.

Richards said the matter was reported to the Basseterre Police Station and officers were investigating.

He declared that this was the first time the fast food outlet had been broken into since its establishment some 15 years ago.
