New buses received by the Strike Force
    (Basseterre; St. Kitts):
The Security Forces received two 14 seater Nissan buses from the Ministry of National Security, via the generosity of the Republic of China (Taiwan), to aid in their efforts of responding positively to incidents of crime and violence.

The two vehicles were handed over to Superintendent Robert Liburd, the officer in charge of the Strike Force Unit, in a brief ceremony on Tuesday morning, October 16th.

Acting Commissioner of Police Austin Williams handed over the keys for the two buses to Supt. Liburd.

While handing over the keys, Acting Commissioner Williams reaffirmed the Police’s commitment to ensuring that everything is done to significantly reduce incidents of crime and violence in the Federation and appealed to the general public to continue to be supportive of the lawmen.

Supt. Liburd expressed his gratitude on behalf of his Unit for the two vehicles and spoke of the positive impact such a contribution will have on their response speed.

Major Leroy Percival of the Defense Force expressed his gratitude as well for the contributions and noted that while the Security Forces must be focused on the fight against crime and violence, they must also pay attention to the upkeep of the vehicles.

Force Chaplain, Leroy Benjamin Sr., offered prayers to the Almighty to officially commission the vehicles into use.

The two buses will be used by the Strike Force Unit, which was established in May of 2006, to response to firearm and gang related incidents, especially.
