Basseterre; St. Kitts: One man is dead and another is in critical condition as a result of a tragic accident along the White Gate stretch of road, in the St. Paul’s area, on Thursday afternoon, October 18th, at approximately 5:30.

The dead man is Ellery Liburd, of New Road, who was sub contracted by Cable and Wireless, for residential services which included provisioning and restoration of fixed lines and internet.

The young man who is critically injured is Omar Kelly, commonly known as “Kilicki”. He is a patient at the Joseph N. France General Hospital, receiving treatment for his injuries.

According to unconfirmed reports, Liburd and Kelly, were riding separate motor cycles when they collided with an omnibus, owned by the Ministry of Tourism, and driven by St. Clair Maynard.

All three motor vehicles were allegedly travelling east, from St.Paul’s when the accident occurred.

The driver of the omnibus escaped the collision without any injuries, but he is “shaken up” emotionally.

Other reports state that the omnibus was making a right turn to go toward Rawlin’s Plantation Inn, when the motor cycles collided with it.

There was a passenger in the omnibus and he too escaped unhurt.

The Traffic Police are conducting an investigation into the accident.
