Prime Minister Patrick Manning Responds to Attacks

Leader of the People's National Movement, Prime Minister Patrick Manning
(Port-of-Spain) --- Leader of the People’s National Movement (PNM), Prime Minister Patrick Manning has publicly responded to Diego Martin MP, Ken Valley’s accusations of dictatorship.

The response came during the PNM’s launch of its two Tobago candidates for the November 5th General Elections in Market Square, Scarborough on Sunday.

Prime Minister Manning is quoted as saying, “No leader of the People’s National Movement can be a dictator or runway horse because of the stringent measures in place in the party to prevent this.”

While he opined that many of his political detractors were labeling him a dictator in an effort to undermine the PNM’s leadership, he noted that the past had not shown any dictatorial tendencies in the PNM’s leadership style.

The remarks come on the heels of statements by outgoing Diego Martin MP, Mr. Ken Valley which refers to Manning as ‘a dictator’.

The outgoing Valley has had an ongoing battle with the PNM since being snubbed for the candidacy by the PNM Screening Committee in favor of Dr. Amery Browne.
