Nevis Culturama Parade day postponed until Friday

By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – As a result of the inclement weather for the entire day yesterday (August 2) officials for the Nevis Culturama Committee decided to cancel the parade of troupes that was scheduled to hit the streets of downtown Charlestown.

Despite the rain, many persons had already come out to witness the parade, and others ready to jump and wave were already in costumes.

However, according to the organizers, their main concern was the children and they were therefore forced to make the decision to postpone the Delta Petroleum Cultural Street Parade until this Friday, August 5 2011.

Although the day turned out to be a disappointment for many, especially those who had travelled over to Nevis, some people still managed to enjoy themselves jamming in the rain to the sounds of bands and Hi-Fi’s that were on the streets.

The inclement weather was as a result of Tropical Storm Emily that by-passed the Leeward Islands and left behind heavy rainfall.

The Culturama Secretariat indicated that they will release more information on the event in a following release.

The parade yesterday, along with the last lap jam session, was supposed to bring the 2011 Culturama events to an end.
